Word Curses

Recently, I received a message from a familiar face from long ago. It has been years since I heard this person's voice and nearly four decades since we were face to face. Almost immediately, I recalled words I released into the atmosphere over my life. Recognition of my ignorance of God's word during that season was astounding. Even moreso was revelation of the curse draped over my marriage, saturated and primed for opportunity. While lying in wait for its launching, the Spirit of God allowed the curse to be revealed. Just as I had been 'woman enough' to speak words against myself, I had to be woman enough to recant, bind and rebuke them.

Ruminations of how many Kingdom citizens are traveling through life, walking daily under their own word curses or cursed words spoken over them? Or have spoken curses over the lives of others?

* I'm going to have this sickness for the rest of my life

* I'll always be broke

* I'll never love someone like I loved______

* Nobody from my family will ever go to college

* I've been a smoker since I was a teenager and. I'm gonna always be a smoker

* You're so crazy!!!

* Nothing good ever happens to me

* You're just like your________

* I'm always going to be fat

* You're never gonna finish that project

* I could never do________

You do understand the kind of statements I am referring to? These are not mere idle words.

Some might say these are just negative comments or thoughts of someone with low self esteem. They seem common or innocent, however once these thoughts become words released into the atmosphere, they become as treasures Satan grasps and places in arrows, aimed directly for the heart and mind of the Believer. He uses your own words against you, and the words of others, attempting to thwart every unction of you coming close to realizing God's plan for your life.

Ephesians 6:16 says 'In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.' The darts and arrows of the enemy are real.

All too often, because someone feels they may not have the ability to do what you are doing, they speak against you and curse you and even themselves. These are tactics the enemy uses to hold children of God back from being successful and productive. Many individuals wallow in the bed of depression, listening to lies of the enemy, struggling to mentally and physically survive when in fact, the primary relief needed is to have word curses broken off their life so deliverance and freedom may come.

Now let's get to the nitty gritty of it all. What word curses have you spoken over yourself or someone else? Which word curses do you recall having heard as child or even as an adult? Let us go together before the throne of grace, seeking Almighty God for strength, healing and wisdom. Please join me in prayer:

Eternal God, you are perfect in all your ways. Matchless are you Lord and we thank you for this moment in your presence. God, we know we are not perfect and we need you every moment of our lives. Please forgive us for the careless words we have spoken over our lives and the lives of others. Forgive us for every piece of ammunition we have freely given the enemy to use against us. We know Father, that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but are mighty through you God, to the pulling down of strongholds! So Father it is by your Spirit that we bind and pull down every negative word spoken over our health, our finances, our mental capacities, our marriages, ministries, and education. Every word curse against each of us as your children God, they are bound, crushed and scattered into dry places, never to return again. Help us Lord, and make your word come alive in our lives. Cause us to speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law which gives us freedom, your word Lord, James 2:12. It is in Jesus's name we pray. Amen.
