TRUTH about LIES
Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. The tongue. It is the unruliest member of the body. It possess the power of life and death Proverbs 18:21. It can mend or it can tear down. It can cause unity and peace, and it can wreak destruction and devastation. The first lie ever told was of Satan in the garden of Eden when Eve fell into the temptation of desiring to become wise Genesis 3:6.
Humans lie. We lie to get our way. We lie to cover things up. We lie in hopes to gain what others possess. We lie because we are jealous. We lie to cause confusion and bring about division. We lie to inflate our importance. Some of us would rather lie than tell the truth, just because. We lie by omission James 4:17 and commission Matthew 15:18-19.
Some of us lie every day. We go to work, clock in, spend the day our way, clock out and do not give our employer the time we said we did. We present our lives to be something it is not. We say at church we are single, but we have a live-in mate. Old school folk would call it ‘shacking’. We say our children live in a certain school district in order to have better opportunities for their education, but they live in another. We lie to our spouses about purchases or bills we incur. We lie on our taxes. We even lie to God by making promises we cannot possibly keep. It is better to not make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it Ecclesiastes 5:5.
The weight of lying can bring about sickness and disease. Some have carried this weight of bondage for years. They have watched their deceit destroy marriages and relationships and, in their denial, (don’t even know I am lying to myself), have subconsciously removed any role they possessed in the matter. The art of deception is crafty and can often be entertaining. Remain aware of the words spoken over you and to you.
Integrity is the key to overcoming the stronghold of a lying tongue. When the enemy prompts you to tell a lie, reach down in your inner most parts and dig for the truth. Build up your character and be an honest man or woman. The Lord will strengthen you and cause your character to increase. Isaiah 59:19.
As I was awakened at 0317 today with this word. I asked why today Lord? I was grateful for the opportunity to resume blog writing; however, I knew today must be significant. In the spiritual realm, the number 3 means God’s perfect number. Jesus prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane before His arrest. He was placed on the cross at the 3rd hour of the day and died at the 9th hour (3 p.m.). Three hours of darkness covered the land as he died on the cross. On the 3rd day, Christ rose. The significance of 18 is the symbolic meaning for bondage. The children of Israel were in oppression 18 years by Eglon and the Philistines.
There is a declaration being released today. The truth of God’s word shall be in you and proceed out of you. God’s word is established. There shall not be any vain or vile words proceeding from you Matthew 15:11. You shall walk in truth, honor and integrity.
You have been set free from the bondage of lying lips. Your yea shall be yea and your nay be nay Matthew 5:37. In Jesus’ name.
