Faith vs. Fear

Elder Paula King-Harper

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 KJV

Are you waiting on a miracle and need it now? Perhaps you are looking for a word of direction and need it now. Are you trusting God right now for healing in your body, spirit or soul?

Do you possess now faith? Now faith is ever present and does not wax or wane. Now faith does not doubt the power and ability of The Father and does not give way to fear. As Kingdom citizens, we possess the promise of 2 Timothy 1:7. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline (NIV). Trust in the promise and the process. Should you be experiencing a faith test, it has its purpose and a God desired outcome.

The enemy uses fear to control God’s chosen people. He knows if he can allow doubt and uncertainty to take root in our minds, it will eventually creep its way down to the heart and settle in as fear. Making itself nice and comfy, with each opportunity of expansion or growth, fear rises and attempts to thwart the plan by creating anxiety and stress beyond comprehension. We can be found participating in self-sabotaging tactics, by tossing doubt darts at God’s ideas and lose confidence in ourselves, forgetting we have no power in our own right anyway. We often create situations we cannot possibly get ourselves out of and repeat cycles of defeating actions, later realizing through succumbing to temptations or selfish greed, we have set our own traps of destruction. Everything cannot always be blamed on the devil and his henchmen. We are often our own worst enemy, keeping ourselves from moving forward to experience the abundant life Jesus promised.

Christians are constantly attacked by the enemy because he knows if he can keep us distracted, out of guilt and pain, we will busy ourselves fighting battles which belong to God. Satan’s job is to steal, kill and destroy and he wastes no time using us against our own selves. He frequently uses us first. Do not give in to Satan’s tactics. He is clever, deceitful and does not fight fair. He has already peeked into your future and has received a glimpse of your destiny. He will do everything he can to keep you from accomplishing this plan.

Trust God totally for His plan for your life. He has declared this plan in Jeremiah 29. He has promised the plan. This plan will not harm you or bring disaster. God’s plan is to give His people hope and a future. Allow your faith to be bigger than your fear.
